UNDP and the UN
Delivering as One for Mozambique development
UNDP has actively sought to develop partnerships with other members of the UN Family in Mozambique. UN co-ordination has been strengthened and the UN Country Team has been involved in several joint inter-agency exercises such as the production of the Common Country Assessments and the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF).
Like other agencies, UNDP is a member of the United Nations Country Team (UNCT), an inter-agency body which consists of the representatives of the UN organisations working in the country. Under the leadership of the Resident Coordinator, the UNCT provides overall leadership to the work of agencies in Mozambique.
The UNCT also ensures interagency coordination and decision making at the country level. The main purpose of the UNCT is for individual agencies to plan and work together, as part of the Resident Coordinator system, to ensure the delivery of tangible results in support of the country’s national sustainable development agenda.
The UNCT in Mozambique, representing both resident and non-resident UN agencies, Funds and Programmes, ensures that the United Nations’ collective human, technical and financial resources are deployed in the most effective and efficient manner. It works through the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) which, developed under the leadership of the Government, outlines all the UN’s work in Mozambique and aims at coherence amongst UN agencies and programmes operating in the country
