At this critical time, UNDP Mozambique Country Office, Electoral Project- entitle Support to Electoral Authorities of Mozambique (SEAM) in coordination with Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE), is supporting the response to the COVID-19 crisis collaborating in the information and public awareness campaign.
The complexity of negative impact of the COVID -19 pandemic overwhelming health systems, paralyzing economies, threatening livelihoods and worsening living conditions, It is important to make citizens aware of the crisis especially with the preventive measures to the disease by developing communication information materials.
The information materials developed and distributed are based on the official Ministry of Health information and are in Portuguese as well as in some of the local languages spoken in Mozambique: Ronga and Emakhua to provide information reaching local communities as much as possible.
These materials are developed with the aim of creating awareness integrating with the strategy of civic education. Civic education is one of the areas of the Electoral Project implemented in the last elections, through which the experience and capacity to reach all province is being harnessed to COVID -19 prevention.
